Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and compliance of GEB’s applications and data platforms before they reach User Acceptance Testing (UAT). This role focuses on designing and executing test plans, identifying defects, and collaborating with development and business teams to ensure that solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements. The Specialist contributes to continuous improvement of QA processes and supports the delivery of high-quality, secure, and compliant systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, document, and execute functional, integration, and regression test cases for applications and data platforms.
- Validate system behavior against business and technical specifications prior to UAT.
- Identify, log, and track defects, ensuring timely resolution and retesting.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage.
- Support automation efforts by contributing to test script development and maintenance.
- Maintain QA documentation including test plans, test cases, and test results for audit and compliance purposes.
- Participate in release planning and provide input on quality risks and readiness.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, data protection policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks reasonably aligned with the scope of this role, as required by evolving business needs.
Skills & Competences
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, integration, and regression testing.
- Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA) and defect tracking systems.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and scripting (e.g., Microsoft Power Automate, Python, or similar).
- Ability to interpret business and technical requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Knowledge of data privacy, security, and compliance standards.
- Demonstrated technical affinity for data architecture and tooling, with proven ability to efficiently categorize, manage, and map data across complex environments.
- Proactive mindset, high level of accountability, and ability to work independently.
Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance or testing roles within an international environment.
- ISTQB or other relevant QA certification is a plus.
- Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in employee benefits, reinsurance, or financial services systems is an asset.
- Fluency in English; French or other languages are considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required by business needs.
