Calibration Scientific Software Developer

Alice & Bob is building the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer, based on an innovative Schrödinger cat qubit architecture 🐈 ⬛ capable of implementing quantum error correction autonomously.

Within the Calibration team, you will contribute to developing scientific tools that automate the calibration of our QPU and maximize its performance. We are looking for someone with strong Scientific Python expertise who can work on experimental data analysis, scientific automation, and building robust software tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Python tools for analyzing experimental QPU data (signal processing, fitting, parameter extraction, visualization).
  • Design and maintain internal APIs and helper libraries that physicists use to write automatic calibration procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with physicists to improve automation of recalibrations and the reliability of analysis workflows.
  • Implement unit and integration tests to ensure robustness and reproducibility of scientific tools.
  • Generate automated calibration reports including raw traces, fitted models, metrics, and provenance metadata.
  • Enhance the user experience for physicists by providing clear documentation, examples, and templates.
  • Debug and continuously improve calibration workflows.

Required Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in scientific or instrumentation software development.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and the Scientific Python ecosystem (NumPy, SciPy, matplotlib, pandas, etc.).
  • Experience in experimental data analysis, signal processing, or numerical modeling.
  • Experience designing APIs or internal libraries for scientific users is a plus.
  • Strong testing practices (pytest), version control, and reproducible environment management.
  • Excellent debugging skills and ability to work closely with experimental physicists.
  • Pragmatic mindset, balancing scientific rigor with practical efficiency.
